Do bones get cold? Why do dinosaur bones need jackets??

Excellent question! No, we are not supplying our fossils with trendy puffer coats. When we say “jackets” we are referring to the protective casing of plaster and burlap that we use to safely transport fossils from the ground to the lab. These jackets are essential to our work. Last year, we used over 45 bags of plaster! This year we want to finalize the excavation of a complete sauropod tail and most of the rest of the skeleton— so we’re going to need even more!

We will post updates from the field and tag sponsors in posts about the jacket they sponsor! It will include a picture of the jacket with your name (or company name) written on it! Not too social? Don’t worry! We can send you an email update instead!

Our Fossil Transport Sponsor will receive tags in all posts (6 minimum) about our bones' long road trip home, including at some fun and kooky, classic Midwestern America site seeing stops!

Join us for our Welcome Home Fundraiser on September 5th, 2019 at The Simple Greek in Dresher, PA and you’ll even have the opportunity to get a picture with your sponsored jacket!
